Don’t get too creative…

Here it is, the first post of this blog that’s intended to be a place to organize the thoughts that rattle between my ears. The thoughts that are worth organizing, that is – the thoughts that I think, or at least would like to think, others would find useful, interesting, or insightful. The thoughts that are not useful I will spare you of – they’ll either get shared with my family, friends, therapist, or if they’re real crazy I might just keep them to myself.

A brief summary of who I am, and what you can expect to read about if you stumble across this blog. In no particular order:

  • I am the dad of 3 amazing kids
  • I am a divorcé, navigating the world of co-parenting, dating, and life-after-divorce
  • I am an electrical and software engineer, working in the corporate world
  • I have a goal to retire early – looking towards the future while also enjoying life now
  • I am a Christian navigating the world of religion through the eyes of an engineer
  • I am an entrepreneur, working in the evenings building a small engineering business
  • I am a survivor, battling the world of depression

Hobbies you might find me doing and posting about:

  • Finding balance – the secret to a happy, healthy life – finding balance.
  • Single dad life-hacks – I love figuring how to make life just a little less stressful!
  • Financial literacy – Maybe not the most exciting hobby, but one I really love!
  • Traveling – I love a good adventure!
  • Amateur astronomy – with my homemade 10″ Dobsonian telescope
  • Amateur photographer – mostly nighttime photography/astrophotography
  • Music – playing the guitar player is how I decompress after a long day. I am an avid Modest Mouse fan, if you couldn’t tell from the title of this blog and scattering of random lyrics amongst this website.

I intend to unpack thoughts on the above topics, and whatever else that strikes my fancy, via this blog. I have several websites, dedicated to my home business, and long-forgotten hobbies, but I’ve longed for a place to organize the things I want to share that don’t fall into those categories (who wants to read about the adventures of a single dad on an engineering website?). This will be that space!
